The NEXT foundation came to visit Panmure Bridge School. Rachel from the Summer Learning Journey came to talk about the 2017/2018 SLJ. The CEO of The NEXT Foundation also talked about how the Summer Learning Journey is really helpful and can help us improve on our reading and writing. Daniel was the star of the movie that the Next Foundation had created about the Summer Learning Journey. I found the movie really awesome and I saw lot's of my classmates in it. After the assembly the NEXT foundation was kind enough to give us a yummy lunch.

Google logo - Scratch game

Today we played a google game. The purpose of the game was to learn about coding. We were putting the arrows in the bar to make the rabbit move square by square .This game a tutorial and the beginning in the game fro our code. I have Managed to finished my game. There were only 6 levels for the games.

Social Study

Dear Mrs Anderson,

We have been researching different locations for your next holiday. We think you should go to Cleveland Metro parks Zoo, in Ohio because it is a huge (183 acre) zoo with many exotic and interesting animals like the Emerald Tree Boa and the Capybara. It would be the perfect place to relax and get some awesome pictures for your social media. I hope this persuades you to have your vacation at the Cleveland Metro parks Zoo.

Motivate

We are learning about leadership as Year 7 will be our school leaders. Today we looked at what motivation means. We then worked collaboratively to create role plays to help us see what motivating others looks like, so we can learn to be great motivators.

The people in our communtiy

I used Tagul to create this word cloud that shows who the people are in our local community. A community is a group of people who live in the same place(e.g:Panmure), or have a common connection(eg:Niuean community)

PBS Reading Holiday Program-Activity 2 Day 2

For the Next Activity I had to create a mascot of the Sky Tower While Scotty is on holiday. The has pink all over it because it Represents the breast Cancer Awareness.I think I did very well on my mascot.

PBS Holiday Blogging Challenge - Day 1 - Activity 1

For this activity I had to find where Rainbow's End is located.Then we had to put down the family passes. After that we How much it will cost my family to go to Rainbow's End,I have 2 adults and 3 Siblings. I think I did really well working on Rainbow's End slides.

Dancing through the decades

Yesterday the whole school performed their dances that they have been practicing. I was in the Stay'n Alive group and I think I have done an awesome job. Thank you to Zoe for teaching for the dance.

Cross Contry

 

Last week Panmure Bridge School went to Cross Country down at Dunkirk. It was muddy but I stall tried my best to run. Out of the year 7 boys I came in the top 10. I think I have done an amazing job running. 

Kiwi Can

Today in our Kiwi Can session we started with a warm game that we have played, It was called Objects we started playing it in a group . After this intense and exciting game we went  to play hand soccer this game was similar to football but using hands only with was a bit hard for me to play. We played hand soccer outside and everyone participated and contributed it was a fun game because I scored 2 goals in 2 games which was really good for 3 minute games.

Coalition

Today in LS2 we were learning about coalitions and how they can affect the elections. A coalition is an alliance which is formed between political parties. So if he decides to team up with Labour, they will have enough seats to become the new government.

Read an Ebook day

Today is read an ebook day.First we had to choose a book from the Tamaki College overdrive. I was reading a book called Suicide Squad it was about After killing everyone in the stadium except a baby which is the package they are sent to get, they leave and await evac.

Tech

Today we went to Tamaki College on a bus for tech.When we arrived there we had to go to our period my period was art when we got there we had to carry on from last weeks art because there was another reliever she is a niuean woman.

What's great to be me

It's great to be me because I like being happy around people that I get comfortable with. E.G I like to be around with people that excite me with my learning, or I like to hang out with people that are normal and are themselves.  

Tech New Rotation

Today we had a new rotation for our tech at Tamaki College.Our rotation was art with Mr Stagg but we call him Mr crip because his favorite color was blue. First we had to drawI big X and we had draw a line in the center and then we had to draw our own culture pattern

Why It's Important To Speak Out Against Bullying?

Today for Inquiry we were discussing why it's important to speak out and stand up against a bully.If you get bullied you just walk away and tell the bully to cut it out we made a short movie clip of our role play. how skit group was Fraidoon and Ofa.

Rewindable Learning

Today we did our dance performance from yesterday for our 60th anniversary production. Our dance teacher who is teaching us is named Zoe. Our group's song is Staying Alive. I found it hard when I had to do the diagonal step. The learning is rewindable because we could look back at our video and practice to get the step right.

When we use A or an

Today we were learning when to use and when to use an before a word.If a word begins with a vowel (a-e-i-o-u) or a silen h (eg-hour), we use an.We use a for all other words. The photo shows the sentences we wrote to practice using a and an.

Winter Learning Journey

 

Today Rachel Williams came to Panmure Bridge School to give out the certificates and the prizes for the people that won and participated in Winter Learning Journey. 1st place Daniel and Oh Hsen 2nd place Aminiasi (AJ) and Alex and 3rd place Ofa and Eric. I have completed eight activities. Thank to Rachael and her team for running this awesome programme and, I hope it stays strong.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 3 Activity 2

For this activity I had to read about how New Zealand are working hard to trap and kill these predators. I have form an opinon and give some reasons why.

1. The pests damage native trees.
2.People are signing up to have a trap in their back yard and to look after that trap.
3.They are eating the eggs and young and attack the adults.
4.They have diseases that can spread to other animals.
5.Stoats attack defenceless young kiwi and contribute to the continuing decline of mainland kiwi populations.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 3 Activity 1

For this activity I had to decide which New Zealand native animal I would adopt. My idea was to adopt a Tui. Tui's are passerine bird (Bird).Tui's like to eat Nectar,Fruit, Seeds and Insects.Tui's live in Chatham Islands. Did you know that  Being a honeyeater, the Tui feeds mainly on nectar from flowers of native plants such as puriri, rewarewa, kahikatea, pohutukawa, rata, kowhai, kaka beak and flax.

For this activity I had to interview one person in my family and ask him/her what their five favourite things to do outside. I decided to interview my twin brother. His favourite things to do:

For this activity I visited three places. They were Tane mahuta, Rangitoto and karekare beach. I have to tell which place is the best and tell you why I liked that place. My favroite Place was KareKare beach because swimmers are advised to only swim between the flags.

Winter Learning Journey - Day 1 (Activity 1)

World of maths

After lunch on Tuesday LS1 & LS2 went to world of maths with Charles. When we arrived there, Mrs Anderson put us into groups, my group had Joshua W, Sanujan, Matthew and Claudia. First we went to the maths puzzel called warehouse. The maths we used was Additions. This was the best rotation so far. 

I Spy

Yesterday we read a book which was called I Spy By Simon Cooke. Then we had to recorded our self reading the book on the I pad. Here is my recording.

Dance

Today LS2 had our first session of dance we had to watch a video of someone doing warm ups and then we had to copy him. It is important to stretch before exercising because it can cause more injury to yourself. We then had to make a five minute routine and then share it with a different group. My favourite part was sharing our routine with a different group and reading there comment. I need to work on stretching my legs longer.

Making Connections

LS2 has read a book named When the wind blows. After we read that book we had to Make a connection. Making a connection is Text to text, text to world, and text to self. 

Personification

We made this DLO to help us understand personification. Personification is when you use your words to make something that is not human sound like it is.

Reduce,Reuse andRecyle

This DLO shows the difference between reduce, reuse, recycle. Reduce means that you use less of something, reuse means to use something again and recycle means to reuse something in a different way.

Maths Strategy

LI: To choose the best strategy that we know to answer the maths question.

Today in LS2 we did maths. I was in Mrs Anderson group and we had to Maths Strategy, my strategy was 20+20+20+20+20+20+20=140. This is my photo about the maths strategy. I was working with Fatongia and Jona.

Game Called Midnight

I felt happy when I first went to play midnight because it is a cool game. I was pumped up with energy, and ready for the game. If we kept moving our slots, we had to do star jumps. We played on the field and the grass tickled my feet as I was running.

Midnight was a hard game for me because we had to freeze when Mr Ogilvie turned around. I kept moving because when I run, I can’t stop. AHHHH! When the bell rang we went back to class and I felt very tired from all the running I had done.

Hit the button

Today in lS2 we played a math game which was called Hit the button. I was playing double 10 and it was too easy for me so next time I will try the next level up. There is a link below for you to play.

Why my blog is unique

Explanation

Learning Intention:  

• To write an explanation that tells the reader why my blog is unique

A blog is a website that you can post your learning on. It goes around to a global audience. All blogs are different and that makes them unique. My blog is special because it’s different to everyone else’s blog.

I have 5,200 views on my blog. That means 5,200 people have looked at my examples of learning that I shared with the world. Each post has a blurb that tells what I have been learning.

I give each post a title and I label it so that my work is easy to find. For example if I post a poem I label it, ‘Explanation, Writing, Jaydon,  2017’  so that people searching for my explanation can find it quickly.

There is comments section under each post. This also makes your blog is unique because it allows people to give comments and information that is special to you about your learning.

Anyone around the global can view what you are learning. All blogs are different and that makes them unique and I think that blog is special because it’s different from everyone else’s blog.

Today we did writing we were talking about why my blog is unique. Unique means that it is different to someone else. My partner was Jona. Jona did really well working with me.

Kiwi Sport

Today we had futsal with Martin he's from Argentina. Martin was telling us about a game a little bit like soccer. We were indoors playing futsal, Martin was showing us about a futsal ball. The small ball is heavy it can't bounce and he showed us a soccer ball that can't bounce. Futsal is really fun. In Futsal you wear flat shoes because it helps you control the ball.

Last Friday LS2 went to Tamaki College for Tech on a bus. When we arrived there, we had to go into groups.My group was with Mr Grundy. Mrs Kirpatrick and Mrs Anderson said to us that we can call Mr grundy SIR. So we went into Mr Grundy work shop and said,"Good Morning SIR ". I was learning about a housing joint. Today I had learnt about an estuary food web. An estuary food web is a cycle of interconnected food chains. My partner was Tiava and we created a food web with the photos that I was given.
